How much are tutor sessions?

What happens if I miss a session?

We value the time of our tutors and students. We ask students to notify their tutors about any schedule changes at least 2 hours in advance . If a tutor or student advisor misses a lesson, students will receive two complimentary non-transferrable lessons as compensation. If you require an last-minute session, please contact your support agent.

When is payment made?

All sessions must be paid for at least 2 hours before the scheduled start time. If payment is not received by then, your session will be automatically cancelled to free up the time slot for other students. This policy ensures reliable scheduling and availability for all students.

What platform are the sessions on?

All sessions are conducted on Zoom, offering a virtual classroom experience from the comfort of your home. Zoom allows students to record tutor lessons, so you have access to it whenever you need it! Prior to your lesson, a link will be shared via text and e-mail which will direct you to the session with your tutor.

How can I be sure the tutor is qualified to teach me or my children?

Candidates are screened and partake in multiple academic tests to prove their expertise in the specific subject(s) they will be teaching. Tutors are required to have a background as past students or teachers in the subjects they tutor. Similarly, our student advisors are selected based on their previous experience in academic counseling. While our hiring process may seem stringent, it is designed to guarantee our students receive dependable guidance.

What is a Meet Your Tutor session?

Meet Your Tutor is a free 20-minute introductory with your potential tutor to guarantee compatibility before booking full sessions. The first 10 minutes are dedicated to discussing the tutor’s qualifications and your specific academic needs. The remaining 10 minutes allows you to work through homework, assignments, or a test review together. This gives students a sense of the tutor’s teaching style and what to expect from our sessions.

Due to our commitment to maintaining affordable rates, we do not offer free full-length sessions. However, the Meet Your Tutor introductory provides a glimpse of our service quality.

What subjects are tutored?

We tutor 100+ subjects in line with Canadian provincial curricula, from kindergarten through to university. For a full list of available subjects, please email us or fill out a contact form including your subject(s).

How many people are allowed in tutor sessions?

We specialize in 1:1 tutoring, believing it leads to the best academic outcomes. However, we also offer group sessions (available with Tier 3 tutor packages) for students who prefer to learn with siblings, friends, or in a collaborative environment.

Do we get what we pay for? Are sessions low in quality?

Our low prices do not reflect the quality of your tutor sessions. We are able to offer competitive rates because of a few reasons:

1. No marketing or advertising campaigns: Turbo Thunder Tutoring relies on satisfied customers and tutors to spread the word about our platform, reducing the need for expensive marketing and advertising charges.

2. In-house sourcing: From tech support to admin, our founders are in charge of several responsibilities. This eliminates the need for additional hires, giving us the ability to provide cost-effective sessions.

3. Work from home jobs: We do not have a physical tuition center. Our office is used for administrative purposes and on a needs-based basis for employee/parent-advisor meetings. By using this approach, we can cut our costs and pass our savings to our students.

4. Digital resources: We provide worksheets and materials online, reducing costs while keeping learning accessible anytime, anywhere.
